Richmart Supermarket — Online Ordering Platform
A production e-commerce platform for a supermarket in Nairobi, live at richmart.co.ke. What started as a portfolio project I pitched to the store owner became a paid commercial engagement — the platform now takes real customer orders, replacing a phone-and-paper process that had no way to handle items running out mid-order.
- Staff can substitute or partially fulfil out-of-stock items; the system recalculates the order total and notifies the customer automatically
- Passwordless login by phone number + house number, built for estate-based delivery rather than email-centric auth
- Zone-based delivery pricing and role-based access across customer, staff, and admin tiers
- Installable PWA with Web Push notifications for order tracking
- Bulk CSV importer that onboarded a 986-product catalogue from the client's Retail Man POS export
- Pre-launch security audit that closed an unauthenticated admin-access vulnerability and several cascade-delete data-loss risks
- End-to-end deployment: DNS, SSL, MySQL, SMTP, on Linux/cPanel hosting
